How it all started

My journey to becoming eco-friendly.

My early years gave me a different perspective on how to live sustainably. I walked to school, dried my clothes outside in the sun, ate lots of veggies, and lived simply. I was not aware of the positive impacts then, but as I grew up, my habits changed and unfortunately, not for the better (but I’m turning that around). I didn’t think about what happened to the objects and all the plastic packaging I so readily disposed of. I also thought (well, I was made to believe) that recycling took care of everything! Yah, not the case (more on that later).
Then, I became a parent. I thought deeply about the gifts I wanted to give to my child: clean air, clean drinking water and predictable seasons. I then shifted my focus to what I could do about the climate crisis. If anything, I want my child to know that I did something and that I was part of the solution.
I am leaping into this because we are all going to need to change. Heck, we need to transform! It's just a matter of time - the writing is clearly on the wall.
If we don't act urgently, change will be forced upon us and life as we know it might no longer cease to exist. Woah, woah, that sounded doom and gloom. But you get what I mean:
climate change is here, it's real, it's bad and we need to do something about it, like now.
This is my personal journey and yours is just as unique. I hope to be a part of a community that is excited about taking climate action. I look forward to sharing my reflections and progress, and to learning from others, like you, who are already on this sustainable path.
So, what was your journey towards living more sustainably?
How did it start?
